Thankful Thursday ~ 28 years of marriage

T

hankful for 28 years of marriage (as of yesterday) . . . .

I don’t take the 28 years lightly.  We’ve loved and lived through a lot – and not liked each other through a lot too.  Statistics say that 75% or more of marriages do not make it after the loss of a child.  We’ve buried two.  It’s not been easy.  But the rewards are beginning to shine through – as our children are choosing Christian spouses, continuing to choose God and a grandbaby to continue life going, due in the fall.   We are laughing more at some of the dumb things we fought over – and learning new ways to set up boundaries and walk away from tensions.  I think we forgive a little quicker too!  Yes, it’s still work – but work worth enduring.

Yes I am thankful for 28 years of marriage – there’s much to treasure – and much to look forward to!

  1. We just celebrated 29 years of marriage this past weekend. It is work but I’ve always thought the joy and playful times – well, it just didn’t seem like work for the most part. Thank you for sharing from your heart and I pray you have many more together 🙂
