And He Shall Be Called . . . Chief Cornerstone [Day 8]

J

esus, our Chief Cornerstone . . . our sure foundation.    names of God2He has already proven to us that He is just what God promised.

“ . . . a tested stone,
a precious cornerstone,
of a sure foundation”
(Isaiah 28:16 ESV)

Life sure can be difficult . . . yet, think of all He went through to show us His firm foundation, from His lowly birth in a manger, surviving Herod’s wicked plans, defeated Satan’s temptations,  rejection by his friends, endured beatings and a public crucifixion.  He died and rose again, just what God said would happen.

Jesus now calls us to be living stones for Him:

As you come to Him, a living Stone rejected by men
but in the sight of God chosen and precious,
you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house,

to be a holy priesthood,
to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 2:4-5 (ESV)

It’s hard to comprehend at times, how God can use us me.  Sometimes we feel like a brink that has been crushed under a bulldozer that can never be put back together.  But He calls us precious and chosen, and He picks up our broken and cracked pieces,  grinds us and chips away the bad parts and reforms us.  Then He takes our renewed pieces, mixes us with His Word to make us whole and cements us firmly, never to be broken away from, the Chief Cornerstone, that can never crumble or fail.

We are an expanding building project, being built on the Chief Cornerstone, and as we allow, God continues to make us new and improved!
