n July of last year, a 145 year old bridge was set afire, burned completely down into the river below. This historic bridge, built in 1867, was Michigan’s oldest original-construction bridge. How disappointing it is gone. We had gone over it several times with our family, had some pictures taken here many years ago.
Friends Rebuilding Whites Bridge (FRWB) is in the process of helping Ionia County Road Commission raise the estimated $300-400,000 needed to rebuild it.
My married daughter, Heather, recently painted the above of the White’s Bridge. It is so realistic looking. She captured the awe of this bridge. She is selling the 16×20 painting for $225 with $100 of this to be donated to Friends Rebuilding Whites Bridge. Her recent unemployment is allowing her to get back to her heart’s passion of drawing and painting.
