What are the Choices for Rural Internet Service?

W

here we live, we do not have many options for internet. It seems all the good, fast options are less than a mile from us, but because on our road the houses are too far spaced apart, they just do not come down our road.  Our  kids get especially frustrated with it.  They want to download movies and look at videos online, but it’s just not possible.

DIALIt does not mean we stop looking though.  I think our only options are  satellite,  dial-up or one of those hotspot things – but they are very expensive!  One place we are looking at is COPPER.net.  They really seem to feature the fast dial-up and have been in the internet business since 1997.  I think one of the best things about them is that they do not charge by the hour and have unlimited residential usage. They really encourage the use of a v92 dial-up modem which allows the user to still be able to get calls with call-waiting and the modem-on-hold software.

I like the fact too, that they have a 30 day money back guarantee, and there are not long term contracts, but if it seems to be working well, and do sign up for a year contract, we could get the standard dial-up for as low as $8.25 a month with a 12 month prepay. That would save a lot of money!

For those in a rural area, what do you use for internet?
