Five Minute Friday: CONNECT

CONNECT

start . . .

Each week in our church bulletin we can read the following:

[this church] exists to glorify God, by worshiping and by making disciples of Jesus Christ, through outreach, biblical instruction and fellowship.

WORSHIP           CONNECT            GROW           SERVE

It would be easy to write on the importance of each of those words above, but this week’s word is  connect.   I am thankful for the connect part that our church has established with small groups.  Just last night I was with my small group of nine women.  We all connect in different ways, and we have created a special bond over the last year or so.  Three of the women have been able to connect because they are widows.  Two of us have buried children.  Yet, the five of us understand grief and wanting to remember.   All of us are moms, have been or are married, and most of all love Jesus.  We have gone through the ups and downs of life.  And, we can easily, connect.

Where do you connect?  Do you have a few dear friends that you can meet with over a cup of coffee and connect with . . .  encourage, pray with, cry with, laugh with?   Is there someone in your life that needs you to connect with her . . . to feel life again?  It’s part of our bond with Jesus, isn’t it?

  1. I’ve had the privilege of leading numerous small groups and know the blessing of this kind of connection, the way it enriches our lives. I’m in a season of silence in that area, hungry to start a new one and waiting on God. I took a lovely walk along the ocean with a friend this morning and though I was a sweaty sandy mess, the connection was priceless. Nice visiting here.
