I
do not read many fiction books, but reading the previews for Need You Now by Beth Wiseman, I was intrigued. Though the plot was somewhat predictable, I found it to be a story of real-life issues and a good read.
Brad and Darlene Henderson move from the big city to a smaller town for the safety of one of their children. Finding a new town did not resolve all the problems, and this family is faced with a lot, though from outward appearances, it would seem they have it all together, including Brad who has a secure, job that is moving forward and can completely support his family. However, Darlene feels she needs more of an identity for herself, outside the home, and takes a job in a school caring for a special needs child. Darlene faces desiring love and attention which was a tempatation when another man was understanding and gave it to her. This family also faced the “cutting” issue of one of their children – which is a real-life issue facing many kids today. Darlene develops a friendship with the next door lady and both are looking for God and find Him in unique ways.
I enjoyed reading Need You Now. This would make a good summer beach read!
