In ‘Other’ Words: Beyond Redemption to Holiness

“Even though we have been transported from the
dominion of darkness to the kingdom of light,
as believers we are still citizens in need of help.
We do not want to minimize the significance
of our rescue from the domain of darkness
into the kingdom of God’s Son,
but this deliverance is not the end of Christ’s work of salvation,
it is the beginning.
Once he has broken the dominion of darkness over us,
he then begins to remove all the darkness within us
so that we may be holy as he is holy.

fter reading this week’s IOW quote chosen by Nina at Mama’s Little Treasures, I looked on PaperBackSwap to see if I could get this book!  It sounds like one I need to add to my pile of books to read!

So much bounces around in my mind reading this.  When I read “We do not want to minimize the significance of our rescue from the domain of darkness into the kingdom of God’s Son” I think of some saying “they said the prayer” and they can do whatever they want because God will forgive them, and they continue purposely sinning and just living any old life.  Being aware of sin, and repeating it with no confession is scary to me.

But for me personally, I love the end part of the quote: “but this deliverance is not the end of Christ’s work of salvation, it is the beginning. Once he has broken the dominion of darkness over us, he then begins to remove all the darkness within us so that we may be holy as he is holy.”  I love the “it is the beginning” . . . such hope! Our pastor recently explained that indeed when we ask for Jesus to come into our lives we are given His spirit, but we still have that old flesh we have to deal and wrestle with, along with the Enemy who will accuse, tempt and chase us down.  It’s a daily war.  But the other best thing, God has already won!

We will be holy as He is holy . . . we are a work in progress . . . it’s only the beginning!

Today, Nina is hosting this week’s, In ‘Other’ Words on her blog,Mama’s Little Treasures.
Join with the others on writing on this quote.
