Five Minute Friday: Delight


start . . . 

Child-made Valentine cards, even with spelling errors,
but the delight in their faces as they pour their hearts
into sharing their love with mom and dad

my husband taking the younger four out on Valentine’s day,
treating them to donuts and McDonalds and their delightful faces
and stories when they came home  

the delightful squeals when the UPS truck delivered
special Valentine candies from grandparents

unexpected delight of getting flowers from my husband on
Valentine’s Day when things are tight
along with a purchase of a small piece of wood
to get a kitchen project finished
without my nagging him!

  1. This is what Valentine’s day should be about: sharing moments with loved ones. It should not be about who receives the biggest box of candy, or the most expensive gift.

    Love the simplicity. May He open our eyes to delight in the ordinary things of life–that we may behold His hand of grace painting joy on mortal man.
