CHERISHED
start . . .
I was just looking at some pictures on Facebook of friends who are on a Make-A-Wish trip in honor of their daughter who has been fighting leukemia this past year. It’s a well-deserved trip for young Bree and for the family who has gone through such a long, tough time. As I looked through their pictures, I know personally how much they will be cherished. And, ours are cherished too, yet in a way never expected.
When we went to Disney and Give Kids the World in February of 2001 we wondered then, when Jessica was just four years old, how long her heart would hold out. We knew and know she will go through many more open heart surgeries. Each time is a risk. What we never expected is that we’d lose one of our other children – a healthy child, in a quick unforeseen moment, was ushered into heaven. The future family picture can change so quickly.
It reminds me again as I reminisce of our time in Florida and now seeing Bree’s family there, how none of us know the number of our days, and be it an infant or a 101 year old person, our days are numbered by God.
How our days need to cherished and counted as a daily gift from God.

I am so sorry for your loss yet inspired by the beautiful way in which you write about it. Bless you heaps
As I read your post this morning the country song “live like you are dying” plays on the radio. Each time I hear the song I am reminded just how cherished each moment should be. We never know when our good bye may be the last. Thanks for the post.
