O
ooooops! I was suppose to post this book review awhile ago. I’ve had it all read and it’s one of those books I want to keep and reread. It’s got underlining and sticky markers throughout it. But I forgot about the book because – our of sight, out of mind. One of my older girls took it to read. She saw the author is, Beth Redman, wife of Matt Redman, whom my older children heard sing and speak at the Passion Conference this past January. Then, I got an e-mail notice that I had not done the review yet . . . so here it is . . .
As I thumb through God Knows My Name: Never Forgotten, Forever Lovedagain, reading things that struck me, reading things I missed before, I know this is one of those books I will definitely read over and over and encourage others to read. This is a very inspiring book, written from Beth’s heart, having gone through rejection, abuse and and insecurities. She was verbally rejected by her father, yet later could write,
“Though my father may forsake me, my God will never reject me. Though my earthly dad may try to erase me from his life, I shall never be forgotten. In that moment I knew a deep and permanent truth covering over the whole of my life: that God knows my name.”
As I read through her story, I could relate too well, having shared many of the same tears she has from her childhood. She shares of her painful times, yet she gives hope, all found through Jesus, even when others fail us. Each chapter is a different aspect of what God knows about us, such as He know my name, my past, character, choices, and continues with chapters of hope of how he has not forgotten me, he is my helper, defender and restorer.
At the end of God Knows My Name is a study guide which would make this wonderful for a Women’s Bible/book study group. I highly recommend this book and give it 5 stars out of 5.
A complimentary book, God Knows My Name of was provided at no cost to me by B & B Media in exchange for my honest opinion of it.
